Relation labels

Is there a way to set the  background of relation labels? Currently relation labels are often difficult to read (and in fact are rather ugly). See screenshot. It would be really swell if I could standout the labels by setting the background :-)
Another option is to have the relation honour the bounding box of the label.

You can't set the background of the labels. There is a ticket in the issue tracker:

Hi,

Setting the label position to "source" or "target" often fixes the issue.

Hi,

The solution I personally use is to override the label using my specialization plugin (https://github.com/archi-contribs/specialization-plugin)

You can use newlines (\n), tabs (\t) and spaces to move the label outside of the line.

This is far to be perfect, but it does the trick.
