Title: When we need license for ArchiMate?
Post by: Maciej Egermeier on September 30, 2016, 12:39:46 PM
Hi,
I tried to find this information but without success.
If we decide to use Archi in commercial project when do we need to pay for ArchiMate annual license? It is really unclear for me when it is needed.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi, I think the best advice would come from The Open Group. Your use of ArchiMate is covered by their licenses.

Hi,

ArchiMate is free if you use it for your own company needs, and you have to pay a license only if you plan to make business with it (either training or consutancy services).

Here you'll find more information about the non commercial license : https://www.opengroup.org/archimate/2.1/corp_index.htm

Regards,

JB

Note that the ArchiMate 3 license is less strict, the use of ArchiMate for the provisioning of consultancy services, as example, is allowed without license:

http://www.opengroup.org/archimate/as30/license_nc
NON-COMMERCIAL USE:  The Licensee may use the Documentation for any purpose, not involving commercial use of the Documentation. Commercial use includes, but is not limited to, the provision of ArchiMate training, training materials, training related services, and products or tools for commercial gain. For the avoidance of doubt, the use of the Documentation for writing books or the provision of consultancy services does not require a commercial license.
