Title: Folder Structure Import/Export
Post by: cjohnson on October 04, 2017, 22:10:51 PM
Hi - I'm using folders in the model hierarchy to structure my model elements.  I then export the model to share with a colleague.  When she imports the model, the folder structure is not imported.  I do check the "Include folder organization" select box...

Any help would be great - the folders are key to our taxonomy.  Thanks!

Are you exporting via the Exchange Format back into Archi? Why not just share the *.archimate file?

yep - using Open Exchange file format (XML) in order to manage diffs/etc in GitHub repository.  Also tried the CSV - that did not export the folders either.

We need a poor man's version control for multiple users updating a shared model.  Open to other alternatives...

With the Exchange Format option the folder structure is exported but not imported. This is because, on importing, other tools' folder structures do not map onto Archi's folders structure. Nevertheless, if someone wants to contribute a solution, it could be considered.

The CSV export does not export the folder structure. Again, if someone wants to contribute a solution, it could be considered.
