Hi everyone,

Archi version 5.4.2 is now available. This fixes an issue with tooltips on Linux and adds a new Theme in Preferences, Appearance, "Automatically select Light/Dark". Archi will automatically set the theme to light or dark on startup depending on the host OS theme (this might not work on some Linux distros).

The download is available here - https://www.archimatetool.com/download

Thanks to everyone for supporting Archi!

Thanks Phil for this quick moving forward.

One question, found the notice in the download page as "This version of Archi supports the ArchiMate® 3.2 specification.
Please uninstall any previous version of Archi before installing this one.", may I know why on this 5.4.2 minor version this is specifically mentioned?

What will be happened if we just directly upgrading without uninstall the 5.4.1? We have coArchi and repository for all team members, uninstall first will be one tricky arrangement unless we know the clear implication.

Thanks,
Xiaoqi

Hi Xiaoqi,

the instruction "Please uninstall any previous version of Archi before installing this one" is just to be on the safe side, typically you can just install over the existing one using the Windows installer.

However, there have been one or two cases where this was not successful and the resulting installation was not clean. So it's just a safety measure.

BTW - you don't need to uninstall Archi plug-ins as they are in a separate location.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your quick reply, I just have the upgrading directly without uninstall the v5.4.1, and it's not pop up any problem.

According to "uninstall first", good that plug-ins are not depending on that step, furthermore, I think all of the imported workspace (repositories) will also be carried on still after uninstall/new-install, since they're in separate folder as well, right?

I would suggest my team colleagues try upgrading directly for easier purpose.

Thanks again,
Xiaoqi

Hi Xiaoqi,

the Windows installer only writes to the target Archi install directory which is (by default) C:\Program Files\Archi. Plug-ins, repos, workspaces etc are not touched.

Thanks for confirmation, then that is fairly manageable given the low chance of the program issue happening from direct upgrading.

Nice day,
