Hi,

I read an article about EMF.cloud and Eclipse Theia. Do you think that Achi can evolved into a web-based version ?

Thanks,
Vincent

I don't know what it would take to do that, probably lots of effort. But I think even if it's possible it might be sub-par to a desktop version, and it would still need to save to desktop files, so I see no benefit. However, should someone like to investigate it, please do!

I see the following advantages:
- Multiplayer
- Access from enterprise user not allowed to install archi

Any hints @Phil Beauvoir how to proceed to add this webArchi capability to the project? Should this be a new project or do you see synergies with the archimatetool?

As I said, a lot of effort if someone wants to try to create a separate project. Archi is a desktop application that has dependencies and workflows related to desktop components and plug-ins.

Comment,
IBM used to have a product, System Architect, that had a thick client for complex modeling, and web client with limited functionality, mostly for browsing and some high level bus process work.

The web client was nearly unusable except for browsing. Think Archi can achieve this now by exporting to HTML.

There are also a few cloud SAAS products around based on Archimate, the delays and locking become a distraction fairly quickly.

Im using Draw.io for simple Archimate models/drawings. Both local desktop and cloud versions.
In princip an web-based Archi whould be possible if anyone whould take the lead to develop it.
I meen we have lots of big apps that runs both on servers but also on client inside our browsers.
Draw.io aka FreeDraw is currently availble in many variants , as in Confluence, LeanIX and other SaaS product.
Maybe there is some money to get there ;)

Someone took BPMN.iO project and made archimodel.net and made it open source. Unfortunatelly development has stalled so if anyone is so inclined they can contribute to that project.
